SEEND PARISH COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES - OCTOBER 2005.

The October meeting was attended by 7 Councillors with Mrs. Savage in the chair, in the absence of the Chairman Mr. Smith.

There were various matters arising, including asking First National to move the bus stop in Sells Green to the other side of the telegraph pole to make it more visible; asking Wessex Water for a quote to install water at the allotments opposite The Bell; requesting Highways Department to inspect the road surface at the bottom of Perrys Lane; noting items for the next Parish Lengthsmens’ visit in February, 2006; contacting Hills with regard to litter, in particular glass, left at the recycling bins by the Social Club.

The following planning applications were considered, and no objections raised:
K/53045/LBC. S.Barnett, View Rosa, High Street, Seend. Remove internal
ceiling in kitchen and put in two skylights in roof.
K/53169/F. Mr. & Mrs.L.Coley, 25 Dial Close, Seend. Erection of a Porch.

Councillors wished to request further information from Kennet DC about the following application. There was some concern expressed about possible noise pollution, and a query about whether site notices had been posted.
K/53145/F S.R. Johnstone, Bath Road Garage, Sells Green, Seend.
Use of site for manufacture of marble & granite worktops and
and fire hearths and surrounds and retail of garden paving and
flagstones.

A copy letter had been received from Kennet DC, confirming that an ash tree in front of Seend Manor may be removed on the grounds of safety.

There was a general discussion on policing issues, and the PC expressed a wish for closer liaison with the local constabulary, and felt it would be helpful if a Police representative could attend PC meetings on a quarterly basis.

Mouchel Parkman has advised that bus stop clear way markings will be installed at the bus stops outside and opposite The Bell.

British Waterways will be contacted to ascertain if the repair to the canal bridge by The Barge is being monitored for movement.

The dates of the next village skips will be :
Friday, 25th November. The Three Magpies.
Friday, 16th December. Seend Social Club.

The date of the next Parish Council Meeting is Tuesday, 29th November at 7.30p.m. in the Seend Social Club.
