The meeting held on 27th November was attended by 7 Councillors, with Mrs. Savage in the chair. Also in attendance were Mr. A. Lake, District Councillor, plus three members of the public, and PC Tottle.
The question of funding for the Seend Shuttle was raised, once the new Unitary Authority comes into existence. Mr. Lake advised that it was too early to predict what will happen, however, there are no plans at present to cease funding of local transport, although he understood that people will be worried.
The forthcoming planning meeting for the application relating to the WI Hall was discussed. Mr. Lake advised that the planning committee will only be concerned with the planning aspects of the case. The questions of access for emergency vehicles into Rusty Lane, and the additional parking of vehicles on the A361 were discussed, should the application for additional dwellings in Rusty Lane be approved.
PC Tottle asked that the public be mindful of bogus callers in the area, sometimes posing as water board officials, be wary and ask for identification. Councillors mentioned problems with litter being scattered in the school grounds overnight, and also one of the recycling bins by the Community Centre being set on fire. The problem of vehicles parking either side of the entrance to Rusty Lane on Sunday mornings, restricting visibility of emerging cars, was also raised.
