SEEND PARISH COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES - JANUARY 2006.

The January meeting was attended by 8 Councillors, with Mr. Smith in the chair.

Mouchel Parkman has advised that they have been commissioned by Wiltshire County Council to enhance bus stops on the Route X72 between Box and Market Lavington through Melksham. Six bus stops in Seend have been identified where enhancement works could improve the existing waiting facilities; these are at Redstocks crossroads, Three Magpies, Wharf Cottage and Seend Fork. Notices will shortly be erected at each site.

Wiltshire Highways Department have been contacted about the road surface at Seend Cleeve, near the Brewery Inn, that was damaged by a vehicle fire some months ago, also about the numerous large potholes in Rusty Lane.

Parish Councillors had a lengthy discussion about the possible outcome should the WI Hall be sold, and felt that it is such a central site for the village, being close to the Social Club and Pavilion, that the area should remain a village amenity, and they would wish to be consulted on any future use of the site.

The road signage for Sells Green was discussed, and Kennet DC and Wiltshire CC are to be asked to improve the signs for Sells Green and Spout Lane, as they are currently confusing for motorists.

Councillors discussed the work required to upgrade the Social Club building, and how this could be funded.

Mrs. Rosemary Fisher, Clerk to the Council.
