SEEND PARISH COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES - FEBRUARY 2004:

The February Meeting was attended by 7 Councillors, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Len Tucker. Apologies were received from Mr. Chris Smith, Mrs. P. Rugg and Mrs. T. Carr.

The village website is now up and running, the site address is www.seend.org.uk.

The Parish Council considered the following application, and no objection raised:
K/047031. Miss B.A. Hiscock. To fit a frosted glass PVC white framed window into north east facing kitchen wall to allow daylight into kitchen at Waite Cottage, 28 Seend Cleeve.

The Council considered the following application, and would advise KDC of its unanimous objection, until such time as the applicant complies with the conditions of the original application (K/44001 – August,2002), with regard to hedging and screening.

K/046999. Mr.D.Johnson. Variation of condition 5 of permission K/44001 to allow for retention of portacabin until 31.12.05. Removal of condition 8 relating to noise insulation at The Old Sawmills, Sells Green, Seend.

Seend Social Club had written concerning the fridge placed in the village skip. This had been taken from the skip and placed on the grass before the driver removed the skip. The Social Club then had to arrange disposal of the fridge. The Council are concerned that if this keeps occurring, the Social Club, and the other sites, will be reluctant to accommodate the skips. Laminated signs will be produced to be placed with the skips advising that household goods must not be deposited in the skips. Abuse of the village skip service will result in it being withdrawn. Please either contact KDC to arrange removal of household goods, or take them to the Recycling Centre at Bowerhill, where they can be disposed of free.

The next waste skips will be place at the following locations and dates:
26th March – Seend Social Club: 30th April – Wessex Water Site.

A letter had been received from Graeme Hay, Service Manager for Wiltshire Highway Partnership, advising that the Parish Lengths men Scheme is being suspended for the time being, as the gang are being used for more pressing repairs to the road network. The potholes at the top of Bollands Hill have been reported to Clarence.

Seend will be making an entry in the Wiltshire Best Kept Village Competition, 2004. The first round of judging will take place in May. A perfect excuse for doing those tidying up jobs you’ve been putting off all winter!

The next meeting of the Council will be held at Seend Social Club on Tuesday, 30th March, 2004 at 7.30p.m.

Mrs. Rosemary Fisher, Clerk to the Council.
