SEEND PARISH COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES - APRIL 2006.

The April meeting was attended by 10 Councilors, with Mr. Smith in the chair.

The Parish Council has obtained a quote from Wessex Water to have a standpipe installed at the allotments opposite The Bell. It is felt this will make the allotments a more attractive proposition. If any parishioners are interested in renting an allotment at this site, please contact the Parish Clerk on 01380 828281.

The work on the footpath from Rusty Lane has now been completed.

The Parish Council has passed its comments to Kennet District Council about the possible extension of the Seend Conservation Area, proposing that it be extended to the north of the canal, including the towpath.

Permission has been approved (with conditions) for the following application:

K/53937/F Mr D Akerman Broad Lane Farm, Broad Lane, Seend

Enclosure of former silage clamps for the refurbishment,
maintenance and storage of canal boats

There was no objection to the following application:

K/54196/F Mr N Keen Rusty Lane Farm, Seend

Demolition, domestic extension and tennis court

Several parishioners were in attendance at the meeting, and gave their reasons for objecting to the following application:

K/54142/F Mr & Mrs M Hibberd 72 Seend Cleeve

New dwelling

Following discussion, the Parish Council voted on this application with 7 to reject, and 3 abstentions.

Kennet District Council has advised that an Information Fair for the Over 50s will be held in Devizes Corn Exchange on 23rd June.

The question of car parking in Spout Lane near the canal was discussed, as this is causing congestion, and problems for residents along the lane. The PC is approaching British Waterways and Wiltshire Constabulary to see if they can assist with this problem.

It was noted that car parking for the car boot fair at Craysmarsh Farm had again caused disruption. This problem had eased considerably at the end of last year, so it was disappointing that it has returned. The PC will again advise Wiltshire Constabulary of their concerns about the safety aspects.

The Chairman, Mr. Smith, has resigned as Chairman of the Parish Council, as he will be moving from Seend in the near future. On behalf of the Parish Council, Mrs. Savage thanked Mr. Smith for his Chairmanship of the Council, for his diligence in dealing with Parish matters, and care of the local environment.

The dates of the next village skips will be:

Friday May 26th Seend Social Club
Friday June 30th Three Magpies
Friday July 28th Wessex Water Site

The date of the next meeting will be Tuesday, 30th May at Seend Social Club at 7.30 pm.

Mrs. Rosemary Fisher, Clerk to the Council.
