The April Meeting was attended by 8 Councillors, with the Chairman, Mr. Smith in the chair.
A new oak notice board has been purchased for the Village, and will be erected in The Lye to replace the small notice board currently situated there.
Wiltshire Constabulary had held a further meeting of all interested parties relating to the car boot sales held at Craysmarsh Farm, Redstocks, prior to the start of the boot sales season, two members of the Parish Council attended. It was proposed to have plans drawn up for an improved entrance and exit to the boot sales, and the Parish Council will stay in touch with the Police on this matter.
Kennet District Council has offered recycling skips to be available for short periods. The Parish Council will investigate whether these skips can be available on a regular basis for one Saturday morning each month.
The Parish Council considered the following planning applications, and no objections raised :
K/51930/F. Mr.& Mrs. T. J. Forbes, Seend Head House, Seend Head. Construct double garage, car port and wood shed.
K/51954/F. Mr. & Mrs. Slade, Sparks House, High Street, Seend. 3 dormer windows in existing roof.
K/52020/TR2. Mrs. E. Kent, 1 Cooks Close, Seend. Application for work to trees in a conservation area. Removal of 1 conifer, 1 blackthorn, removal of branches overhanging the drive on 1 beech tree, reduction by 40% and reshaping of 1 holly.
Tree Preservation Order – Manor House, Seend.
KDC considered the objections raised to serving the Order, but have decided to confirm the order on 7th April.
There were no objections to the granting of a Public Entertainment Licence for the Three Magpies for the 16th – 17th September.
Information had been received about Trafalgar Weekend, which takes place from 21st to 23rd October, to commemorate the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar. This includes a Guide to Taking Part, suggesting ways to which the Village could participate, including lighting a beacon on Trafalgar day (21st) and a Service of Commemoration on Sunday, 23rd October remembering the crews from both sides who fought and died during the Battle of Trafalgar, and the ringing of church bells at 7.00p.m. that night.
